Hi there. I’m glad you stopped by.
My name is Brenda. I’m a sensitive soul, with a love for the little things. Coffee. Dogs. Flowers. Books. The blue sky, and the way the sunlight filters through my window. Pens and journals. Words, quotes, and things that make me think. One of my biggest dreams is to, God willing, make my writing into a full-time career.
You may be wondering, why beauty for ashes? It’s a phrase I’ve seen everywhere. It sounded lovely, and yet I never fully grasped its meaning. I knew when I created this blog, I wanted a title that encapsulated my walk with God. Something which summed up who I was becoming. When I read this verse, something clicked:
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.Isaiah 61:1-3
Beauty for ashes. Light for darkness. Hope for despair.
This is what God has been doing all along. Making all things new. Saving the sinner, and bringing them into new life (2 Corinthians 5:17).
I am living proof of this. I never thought I could be or do anything. Fear had burrowed into my heart and bones. Now, I’m dreaming and hoping like never before. God is so much bigger than we realize. He’s doing so much more than we realize.
And so, it’s my prayer that this website encourages my fellow believers to dig deeper into the faith, into God. To give hope to the hopeless, the broken, and the lost. To remind you that with God, nothing is over. He isn’t finished with you.
Yes, I know at times it can feel impossible to go on. Jesus said that in this world, we will have trouble (John 16:33). But praise God that He also said we don’t have to be afraid. We can have peace despite our circumstances because Jesus has overcome. He is risen. He is alive, and He is always with us (Matthew 28:20).
We aren’t meant to walk this journey of faith alone. We need God, and we need each another. So, let’s continue to seek God until we’re all face to face with our Lord and Savior. Until we’re rejoicing together in Heaven for eternity.
I pray this blog blesses you and leads you closer to God, your First Love. If you’re ever in need of anything, don’t hesitate to contact me.
May we meet in heaven someday soon. God loves you, and so do I.
May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.Numbers 6:24-25
